port, high-quality products and engineering services in the area of industrial communications especially for CAN, CANopen, DeviceNet and (Realtime) Ethernet and Ethernet POWERLINK respectivelyport AT-CAN-MINIThe aim of port is the development of progressive, high-quality products and engineering services in the area of industrial communications especially for CAN, CANopen, DeviceNet and (Realtime) Ethernet and Ethernet POWERLINK respectively. Products for field busses and Industrial Ethernet customized client-specific fieldbus-oriented solutions too, reliable industrial protocol stacks, professional tools, security and routing for industrial ethernet. It's possible to download and evaluate some tools and driver can4linux. Click here for software tools. The universal LINUX CAN device driver can4linux supports a broad range of CAN interfaces. Source code of the software is available herehere; it compiles for Kernels 2.0, 2.2, 2.4. latest 2.6 and can be compiled for uClinuxuClinux kernel 2.4 and better (including 2.6 at the moment.) Designed to be used in embedded applications (as well as still on the desktop) this version is configured at compile time for the right hardware. An derived version for embedded Linux-devices using micro controllers with integrated CAN or with external stand alone CAN controllers is available too. The drivers supports some ISA boards and some PCI boards, e.g.:

  • Advantech Pcm-3680 (PC 104);
  • ARCOM Single Channel Opto-Isolated CAN interface modules supporting the Philips SJA1000 Controller AIM104-CAN;
  • only Version 2.x: port AT-CAN-MINI (alt: 11 bit basic CAN mode) and port AT-CAN-MINI (PeliCAN mode 29bit);
  • Analog Devices BF537 STAMP board;
  • ATMEL AT91SAM9263-EK board and AT91SAM9263/AT91SAM9260 boards with external Microchip MCP2515/NXP SJA1000;

Sercans III - GNU/Linux driver for SERCOS III master PCI Sercans III

SERCANS III PCIThe SERCOS (a.k.a. SErial Real-time COmmunication System) interface is a globally standardized open digital interface for the communication between industrial controls, motion devices (drives) and input output devices (I/O). It is classified as standard IEC 61491 and EN 61491 (a brief explanation herehere, in pdf file format). The SERCOSSERCOS interface is designed to provide hard real-time, high performance communications between industrial motion controls and digital servo drives. SERCANS provides simple and cost-efficient implementation of SERCOS interface for the control unit. SERCANS is a master connection for SERCOS interface providing a simple and clearly arranged memory interface between the SERCOS interface and the control unit. The memory interface significantly simplifies the implementation of SERCOS interface. Knowledge of the hardware of the SERCOS interface connection is not required. The hardware of the SERCOS interface connection can remain anonymous to the CNC developer. SERCANS organizes the function of a SERCOS interface master in an active SERCOS interface master card. The new SERCANS III can be seen as a derivative of SERCANS I and SERCANS II, although it changed its physical communication style. The new SERCANS III is a product of natural evolution that started with the first generation of SERCANS I in 1996 and continued in 1999 with the development of SoftSERCANS and SERCANS II. SERCANS III represents the master control unit for the new SERCOS interface, SERCOS III. Now it possible to use SERCANS III PC plug-in board (PCI)SERCANS III PC plug-in board (PCI), from RexRoth Bosh GroupRexRoth Bosh Group, on GNU/Linux but, at the moment, the software is in an very early state of development and provided without any warranty. It contains two projects, the linux kernel driver itself and a library for user space along with two example programs. For more information click herehere.

Spectrum Instrumentation, a company dedicated to manufacture fast PCI, PXI, CompactPCI instruments. Used as ADC boards, DAC boards, transient recorder, high-speed data acquisition, signal generator (arbitrary waveform and pattern generators), digital I/O boards, DAQ, oscilloscope. Products available with 8 bit, 12 bit, 14 bit, 16 bit resolution and provide computer supplies. Spectrum has focused its business on the high-speed A/D, D/A and Digital I/O range with sampling rates between 100 kS/s, 1 MS/s, 10 MS/s, 50 MS/s, 100 MS/s, 200 MS/s, 500 MS/s and 1GS/sM3i.4121 PCI Express 2 Channel 250MS/s 14 Bit Transfer RecorderSpectrum Instrumentation, a company dedicated to manufacture fast PCI, PXI, CompactPCI instruments. Fast amplifiers and high-quality converters allow the acquisition and replay of high-frequency signals. As a result of the substantial on-board memory even fast signals may be recorded for long time with a high precision. The boards are also available in a completely installed system. The boards are available for PCI/PCI-X bus (overviewoverview of all PCI/PCI-X boards), boards for PCI Express (click herehere for all PCI Express boards), boards for PXI bus (overviewoverview all PXI products) and boards for CompactPCI bus (herehere all CompactPCI boards) in a completely installed system in a wide range of standard systems, 19" industrial systems or mobile PCs. For the mobile use together with a notebook, a range of high-performance docking stations that can hold up to three PCI boards is also available. Spectrum delivers loadable Linux modules for the common GNU/Linux distributions with all products for years now. But also less common GNU/Linux distributions are supported. For this the source code of the driver module and the needed makefiles are available from Spectrum. The user then can compile a perfectly matching version for his GNU/Linux installation. GNU/Linux distribution officially supported (32 and 64bit architectures) are SuSE from 9.0 up to 11.2, Debian Sarge, Etch and Lenny, Red Hat 9.0 and Fedora Core/Fedora from 3 up to 12. But Spectrum delivers free of charge the software SBench 6 a powerful and intuitive interactive measurement software. Besides the possibility to commence the measuring task immediately, without programming, SBench 6 combines the setup of hardware, data display, oscilloscope, transient recorder, analysing functions and export functions under one easy-to-use interface. All current Spectrum M2i and M3i data acquisition cards are supported. The integrated demo function can simulate any of the supported boards in the system. This allows testing SBench functionality without any hardware. It's available for GNU/Linux too, KDE and Gnome desktop environment still providing the look and feel of the specific window manager. For more information about Spectrum click herehere.
