Microchip’s line of PIC microcontrollers remain very popular, despite their development environment being more proprietary than those of other microcontrollers. Piklab is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for applications based on Microchip PIC and dsPIC microcontrollers (similar to the MPLAB environment) and a number of open-source tools and tying them together in a single environment. The Small Device C Compiler (SDCC), the GNU PIC Utilities (Gputils) the PICC-lite, PICC and PICC-18 compilers, and the PIC30 toolchain are supported.
