GNU Octave a high-level language primarily intended for numerical computationsGNU Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments using a language that is mostly compatible with Matlab. Octave 3.2.4 version has been released and is now available for ftp. This version fixes/improvements/adds new features, e.g.:

  • Fix and improve strjust;
  • Support cummin/cummax for bools;
  • Better warnings when gnuplot is not installed but native graphics are available;
  • Set default papersize to the desired imagesize and set default paperorientation to landscape to stop warning message;
  • Add missing DLD_DEFS:OPT_HANDLERS dependency;
  • Simplify ismember;
  • Fix subscripting of vectors by N-d arrays;
  • ...and so on!

XCircuit - Revision 165 and 5

XCircuit a schematic drawing tool targeted at  producing nice publishable schematic capturesXCircuit is a powerful open source schematic capture program. It has most of the features of a general purpose drawing package and includes a symbol library facility that can be used to store user defined schematic symbols. Schematics, libraries of vacuum tube, flow charts, chemical diagrams, and even musical scores may be created with XCircuit by loading the freely available symbol libraries. A mathematical symbol typesetting capability is included in the program. XCircuit uses the PostScript language for its output and library files. The PostScript created by XCircuit is human readable which makes manual editing possible. On stable (3.6.165) and development version (3.7.5);
  • Corrected an error in string array size that can cause a crash when a new window is created.

Xenomai, a real-time development framework cooperating with the linux kernelXenomai is a real-time development framework cooperating with the Linux kernel, in order to provide a pervasive, interface-agnostic, hard real-time support to user-space applications, seamlessly integrated into the GNU/Linux environment. Xenomai 2.5.1. Here is some of optimizations, cleanups and bug fixes:

  • I-pipe patch fixes and new versions, asm wrappers upgrades to cope with new patches;
  • Drivers update; RTCAN, including new support for powerpc platforms analogy, including a new s526 driver.
For detailed commit logs, see git shortloggit shortlog.

Fritzing - Version 0.3.15b is out

Fritzing can be seen as an Electronic Design Automation tool for non-engineers: the input metaphor is inspired by the environment of designers (the breadboard-based prototype), so that it is easy to transfer a hardware sketch to the software by using a drag-and-drop-based GUI to copy your sketchFritzing is an open-source initiative that allows you to virtually design electronic circuits on a breadboard (although you could design circuits that aren't on a breadboard). This could save a lot of hours working on a breadboard if you have this amazing software at hand. In this new version of Fritzing some individual code changes are:

  • Added power symbol to schematic view;
  • Improved routing status calculation;
  • More ratsnest coloring;
  • Fixed jumper item drag wire-not-attached bug;
  • Minor text changes;
  • GNU/Linux version built with Qt 4.6.1;
  • ...and many others!

MCU 8051  IDE is a fully featured integrated development enviroment for MCS-51  based microcontrollersMCU 8051 IDE is fully featured integrated development enviroment for MCS-51 based microcontrollers (e.g. AT89S8253) written in Tcl/Tk for POSIX systems only (like GNU/Linux). It consists of compiler, advanced text editor (highlighting, validation, completion), simulator, scientific calculator, hexeditor and many other things. In this new version of MCU 8051 IDE;

  • Modernized GUI;
  • Bug fixes.
Moreover, has been released the new version (1.3) of the plugin ssp (a.k.a. Simple Serial Programmer).

domus.Link a web based frontend for Heyu programdomus.Link is a web-based frontend for Heyu. Design focuses on separating configuration from actual controls thus giving the user a simple and user friendly GUI. The primary concern being that anyone with little or no knowledge of home automation systems can easily manage/administer the system. Requirements: a GNU/Linux distribution, the ApacheApache http server, Hypertext Preprocessor (PHPPHP) and, naturally, Heyu. domus.Link is now 100% open source and now it is available at Google CodeGoogle Code and it's license is now GPL V3GPL V3.
