PCAN Light - New Version of GNU/Linux driver available

E-mail
Friday, 05 February 2010 11:20

CAN adapters under GNU/Linux manufactured by  PEAK-System TechnikPCAN-USB - USB to CAN InterfacePCAN-Light for LINUX is the easy to use software interface for CAN hardware by PEAK-System. There's a single API (Application Programming Interface) for all CAN interfaces. This simplifies the software development. The drivers are designed to work with CAN hardware by PEAK-System and 100 percent compatible hardware by OEM vendors. Take care when using third-party hardware, since the drivers use special functions. In this new version (6.15) of GNU/Linux driver;

  • Fix a problem with PCAN-USB driver (Baudrate fix);
  • New manual.

Fritzing - Version 0.3.15b is out

Fritzing can be seen as an Electronic Design Automation tool for non-engineers: the input metaphor is inspired by the environment of designers (the breadboard-based prototype), so that it is easy to transfer a hardware sketch to the software by using a drag-and-drop-based GUI to copy your sketchFritzing is an open-source initiative that allows you to virtually design electronic circuits on a breadboard (although you could design circuits that aren't on a breadboard). This could save a lot of hours working on a breadboard if you have this amazing software at hand. In this new version of Fritzing some individual code changes are:

  • Added power symbol to schematic view;
  • Improved routing status calculation;
  • More ratsnest coloring;
  • Fixed jumper item drag wire-not-attached bug;
  • Minor text changes;
  • GNU/Linux version built with Qt 4.6.1;
  • ...and many others!

MCU 8051  IDE is a fully featured integrated development enviroment for MCS-51  based microcontrollersMCU 8051 IDE is fully featured integrated development enviroment for MCS-51 based microcontrollers (e.g. AT89S8253) written in Tcl/Tk for POSIX systems only (like GNU/Linux). It consists of compiler, advanced text editor (highlighting, validation, completion), simulator, scientific calculator, hexeditor and many other things. In this new version of MCU 8051 IDE;

  • Modernized GUI;
  • Bug fixes.
Moreover, has been released the new version (1.3) of the plugin ssp (a.k.a. Simple Serial Programmer).

domus.Link a web based frontend for Heyu programdomus.Link is a web-based frontend for Heyu. Design focuses on separating configuration from actual controls thus giving the user a simple and user friendly GUI. The primary concern being that anyone with little or no knowledge of home automation systems can easily manage/administer the system. Requirements: a GNU/Linux distribution, the ApacheApache http server, Hypertext Preprocessor (PHPPHP) and, naturally, Heyu. domus.Link is now 100% open source and now it is available at Google CodeGoogle Code and it's license is now GPL V3GPL V3.

Flashrom - Version 0.9.1 has been released

Flashrom is  a utility for reading, writing, erasing, and verifying flash ROM chips.  It's often used to flash BIOS/coreboot/firmware/EFI images. It supports  a wide range of DIP32, PLCC32, DIP8, SO8/SOIC8, and TSOP32/40/48 chips,  which use various protocols such as LPC, FWH, parallel flash, or SPI.  The tool can be used to flash BIOS/firmware images, for example, be it  proprietary BIOS images or coreboot (previously known as LinuxBIOS)  images. It can also be used to read the current existing BIOS/firmware  from a flash chipFlashrom is a utility for reading, writing, erasing, and verifying flash ROM chips.   • Support was added for external flashers: 3Com NICs, SiI SATA controllers, ITE IT87* SuperI/Os, FT2232H/FT4232H based SPI serial adapters, AVR based flasher (with AVR source code), and Dummy tracing flasher;
  • An universal external flasher protocol was added;
  • Automatic write/erase verification is done;
  • Support for dozens of flash chips, chipsets, and mainboards was added;
  • No root privileges are needed for most external flashers;
  • UI was improved and made more verbose;
  • Fast bus type dependent probing is used, increasing write speed by 100 times for some chips;
  • Reliability fixes were made for buggy hardware and corner case spec conformance.
