gds2000tools - Version 0.12 is out

E-mail
Thursday, 22 July 2010 22:33

RIGOL DG 5000 is a multipurpose generator that combines different functions from Function Generator, Arbitrary Waveform Generator, IQ Baseband Source/IQ IF Source, Frequency Hopping Source (optional) and Pattern Generator (optional). It provides single and dual-channel models. The dual-channel model is a real dual-channel signal generator with entirely the same functions and precisely adjustable phases in two channels.gds2000tools is a collection of command line tools for using the GW InstekGW Instek oscilloscopes on GNU/Linux. A new version of gds2000tools has been released. This release contains:

  • gds-template-get added, for reading go/no-go templates from GDS-8x0 series oscilloscopes;
  • More checks if intermediate commands fail;
  • gds-esr: output formating fixed;
  • Format option 'go-nogo' added for reading and decoding GDS-8x0 series oscilloscope go/no-go template data;
  • Support for RigolRigol DG5000 series.

Sage an open source mathematics computing environmentSage is an open source mathematics computing environment (MCE) which covers many aspects of mathematics, e.g. algebra, calculus, elementary to very advanced number theory, cryptography, numerical computation, group theory and so on. Sage 4.5.1 has been released. In this version a total of 37 new functions were added since version 4.4.4 then the total number of functions is now at 25764 (overall weighted coverage score: 82.7%). Some changes in this release are:

  • Error in quotient ring loaded from a file;
  • Multi-dimensional polynomial fit;
  • Add an spkg-check file for Python;
  • Recognition of split graphs (5 lines);
  • Upgrade biopython package to 1.54.
Sage 4.5.1 closed 92 tickets (since 4.4.4 version), all of which are available herehere (version 4.4.4 -> 4.5) and herehere (version 4.5 -> 4.5.1) for your reading pleasure.

Fritzing - Version 0.4.1b is out

Fritzing can be seen as an Electronic Design Automation tool for non-engineers: the input metaphor is inspired by the environment of designers (the breadboard-based prototype), so that it is easy to transfer a hardware sketch to the software by using a drag-and-drop-based GUI to copy your sketchFritzing is an open-source initiative that allows you to virtually design electronic circuits on a breadboard (although you could design circuits that aren't on a breadboard). This could save a lot of hours working on a breadboard if you have this amazing software at hand. In this new version of Fritzing a high-level summary of changes are:

  • GNU/Linux x86-32: crashing at 70% file load (with jumper items) fixed;
  • Crash bug on some of the sparkfun footprints converted from Eagle/KiCAD;
  • Experimental KiCAD schematic (lib) file import;
  • A few bug fixes.
But if you're interested in the detailed changes, take a look at the individual code changes clicking herehere.

Signal analysis is performed by Fourier, correlation, and raster transforms that create colorful spectrograms with vibrant detail.Baudline is a time-frequency browser designed for scientific visualization of the spectral domain. Signal analysis is performed by Fourier, correlation, and raster transforms that create colorful spectrograms with vibrant detail. Conduct test and measurement experiments with the built in function generator, or play back audio files with a multitude of effects and filters. The baudline signal analyzer combines fast digital signal processing, versatile high speed displays, and continuous capture tools for hunting down and studying elusive signal characteristics. In this new version of Baudline:

  • Added the blip Fourier, transfer function, and impulse response transforms;
  • Added left and right mouse wheel tilt controls;
  • Fixed a large number of bugs.

Heyu - Version 2.9.0 released

E-mail
Sunday, 18 July 2010 08:36

Heyu a text-based program for remotely controlling lights and appliances in the home or officeEH-DS18 a door/window sensor works with any X10 security system. This sensor sends a wireless radio frequency signal to the main console when a door (window) or/and the hard wired input are opened. The sensor sends a "selfchecking" transmission approximately every 90 minutes.Heyu provides a command line interface to communicate with the CM11A hardware module from X10. Heyu can be run from cron to automate lights, sprinklers, etc., or can store macros and timers in the CM11A memory for standalone operation. Auxiliary input is supported from MR26A, W800RF32A, and RFXCOM X10 RF receivers for X10, X10 Security, RFXSensor, RFXMeter, Oregon, and DigiMax RF signals (subject to the capabilities of the receiver). Version 2.9.0 of Heyu adds new features, enhancements and fixes various bug, e.g.:

  • Added command 'heyu masklist' to display the current list of mask environment variables for ready reference;
  • Added module type BMB-SD18 for the BMB model SD18 Smoke Detector;
  • Added module type DS18-1 for the ElekHomica DS18DS18 Security Door/Window sensor;
  • Added the capability for one signal to launch more than one SCRIPT.
The complete list of changes is available in the file release_notes.txt in the source package, or click herehere.
